Expanding Environments for Learning

In 2020 we designed four school expansions for SPARK Schools in Gauteng. These projects involved the addition of 2-3 new grades and alterations to existing areas to complete each school.

Each project had tight site constraints and a standard functional blueprint. Our design solutions are centred on the creation of stimulating outdoor social/learning spaces, comfortable classrooms with north-facing daylight and natural ventilation. We worked closely with our client to develop an ethos of framework planning, prioritising the long-term sustainability of the schools from the start.
