House of Volumes

Project Type: Private Residence
Status: Completed 2025

Concept

This project explores the sculptural potential of residential architecture through a series of interlocking volumes arranged around a central courtyard. The massing responds to views, privacy, and light, with deep overhangs and solid walls that anchor the house to its sloped site.

Each volume performs a specific programmatic role—living, sleeping, service—while maintaining formal consistency through material palette and proportion. Large openings frame selected views and draw natural light deep into the interior.

Materials and Form

The design pairs smooth off-shutter concrete with textured plaster and dark timber cladding, creating contrast between weight and warmth. Circulation is arranged around double-volume spaces that connect the interior with landscaped courtyards and the broader mountain context.

Construction

MiMo Architects was involved from concept to completion, providing full architectural services. The house was delivered through close collaboration with local builders and fabricators. Final-stage documentation captured key architectural details and spatial moments to reflect the project’s resolution and craftsmanship.

See the build take shape with CLT panels, planted roof gardens, and the transformation from render to reality. Light, shadow, and materiality come together as the house settles into its setting.
