Two Sliding Volumes

Design for a new family home in Lusaka, completed in 2021. Tasked with designing a 4-bedroom home with an office, music room and art gallery; what emerged was the 'two sliding wings' design that integrates living, entertainment and the arts in an open 'living wing' and offers privacy via a 'sleeping wing'. The form maximises the outlook on to an expansive woodland plot, captures north light and offers both elevated and cosy spaces for outdoor living. We worked with concrete blocks and robust, timeless finishes to keep the construction of this elegant home within budget.
